Side By Side Pre Ride Checklist
Riding your Side By Side can be an absolute blast. Whether you have a Polaris Ranger, RZR, a Honda Talon or Pioneer, a Canam Maverick, or just a John Deere. There’s a few things you should always have ready and with you when going for a trip in your SXS. Here are a few of the things I recommend taking with you.
- Air pump
I always recommend in having some sort of air pump. Obviously you want something that can handle the PSI and load going into your SXS tires. I recommend getting something that can run off of a 12V accessory socket. Most Polaris, Honda, and Canam Side by Sides come with it or have it as an aftermarket bolt up. It can be an absolute lifesaver if you get a pinch flat in the trails or desert. It may not fix the flat, but it may be able to get you back to camp!
- Drinks and Food
A lot of people don’t think driving these Side by Sides is hard work, but it most certainly is. Driving a UTV all day can be quite strenuous. It takes a lot of focus and strength. It takes a toll on the body especially in rough terrain. Pack a lot of water and some sandwiches or other snacks. Stay hydrated while out there playing around!
- Cell Phone
This seems like a no brainer but some people just like getting away from everything. While that’s not a bad thing, at least take it with you. Turn it off and keep it in the glovebox, your backpack, or even under the seat but definitely bring it with you! Things happen while riding even if you’re the most careful rider out there. You don’t want to be stranded in the middle of the woods close to sunset and have an hour walk back to camp. Bring it with you and make sure it’s fully charged!
- HELMET
I cannot stress this enough, WEAR A HELMET. You may feel safe because you have a roll cage around you but the truth is you are just as vulnerable as riding a fourwheeler or dirtbike. The cage can only do so much during a rollover or impact and can collapse under severe hits. Also, debris flying up, branches, sticks, and bugs can be detrimental to your face or eye area. Even with a windshield this can still play a factor. Wear a helmet, wear goggles, you’ll thank me later.
- A Good Time
Don’t forget this is supposed to be fun! Your Side by Side is a toy and meant for playing, use it as such. Things are most likely going to break, go wrong, conditions may not be favorable but have fun! You’re most likely with family and friends also trying to enjoy their time as well. If something breaks, head over to www.ThePartShed.com to order your parts and keep on playing!
